Leek Soup
Dry Stone Waller Blues by Rob
Sitting on a wall with my butty box,
Bloody dreaming, I am.
Cheese butties, apples, crisps.
A Mars bar; work, rest, play…

Just sitting here, wishing – well, you know how it is -
Wishing these fields were mine.

Building walls for other folk
Fencing fields for other folk.

Sitting here thinking – nice green fields.
I could turn these into nice green fields,
Make a living, from what’s here.

A bite of my apple. Now I’m thinking
Never mind all these bird folk.
I’m thinking – Nature and everything
Used to live with the farming.

All the birds they’re now protecting,
Never used to need it.
Changing the farming, to help the birds,
And yet - there’s less birds, now.

People like me, who’d like to be farming –
They’d stop me doing it, somehow.
Sitting here, that’s where I am -
Just sitting here, bloody dreaming.
