The famous Rugeley 'B' Cooling Towers

The famous Rugeley 'B' Cooling Towers

Rugeley

Rugeley is a historic market town which lies on the northern edge of Cannock Chase. The town was a centre of coal mining until 1991 when the Lea Hall colliery was demolished, and dominating it's skyline is the Rugeley B power station.

Funky Fact about Rugeley...

Rugeley was home to the infamous poisoner William Palmer, and the town is twinned with the town of Western Springs, Illinois.

Here's what some people had to say about Rugeley...

Rugeley

Famous Things:

Loads of people think that the most famous thing about Rugeley is William palmer the notorious rugeley poisoner! But Jo says: "The power station is the most famous thing".

Jamer Frazer reckons Rugeley's most famous for: "the Good football sides. They have good junior level sides, but the adult teams excel in their divisions".

Good Things:

Trixi enjoys seeing deer, having a nice drink at one of the many pubs - but thinks that Rugeley could be even better if there was more investment. Marcus loves the Plough in Brereton because "they keep the beer well!"

And many people agree that you can't beat taking a stroll on Cannock chase in the summer.

Bad Things:

Lots of people have told us there's not enough investments being made to bring the people into the town.

Rugeley is a top place to live, sure, there isn't really much to do but I really love living here. And whoever says the Springfield’s estate is no good, they're wrong. I lived there since I was born and everyone on that estate is ace. The pubs are cool too, I go out every weekend and never get bored, there’s always someone out that you know and everyone is cool. The shrew is the top place to go!
Best event in Rugeley: charter fair

Rugeley isn’t rubbish...there is nothing for people to do and the shops are rubbish. It needs more shops instead of takeaways charity chops and tanning places...

San
Rugeley needs more for young kids to go and do, there are too many pubs, card shops and charity shops, and Rugeley needs a complete face lift and some serious cash invested into the town.
