The town was a centre of coal mining until 1991 when the Lea Hall colliery was demolished, and dominating it's skyline is the Rugeley B power station. Funky Fact about Rugeley...Rugeley was home to the infamous poisoner William Palmer, and the town is twinned with the town of Western Springs, Illinois. Here's what some people had to say about Rugeley... ![]() Famous Things:Loads of people think that the most famous thing about Rugeley is William palmer the notorious rugeley poisoner! But Jo says: "The power station is the most famous thing". Jamer Frazer reckons Rugeley's most famous for: "the Good football sides. They have good junior level sides, but the adult teams excel in their divisions". Good Things:Trixi enjoys seeing deer, having a nice drink at one of the many pubs - but thinks that Rugeley could be even better if there was more investment. Marcus loves the Plough in Brereton because "they keep the beer well!" And many people agree that you can't beat taking a stroll on Cannock chase in the summer. Bad Things:Lots of people have told us there's not enough investments being made to bring the people into the town.
