News imageStaffordshire Spiritual Places: Deep Hayes Country Park
Deep HayesSpiritual Places is your chance to nominate a special place that has a significant spiritual meaning to you.

Flora Orr from Stoke-on-Trent has chosen Deep Hayes Country Park, near Leek as her special place...
A view of Deep Hayes Country Park, near Leek

Flora Orr from Hanley called BBC Radio Stoke's Sunday Breakfast Show to tell presenter Anne Duffell about her Favourite Spiritual Place.
She chose Deep Hayes Country Park, near Leek.

"I like to go there to take in the atmosphere of the tree, the birds, the flowers, the tranquillity of nature. I was just drawn to it. It's the place where I write some of my poetry."

Here's one of the poems Flora wrote there:

TREE OF LIFE

Are you, like me
A bud on a tree,
A bud on the Tree of Life?

Which way shall we go?
Shall we wither or grow,
Grow on the Tree of Life?

From bud to flower,
We grow hour by hour
On this glorious Tree of Life.

We are fed and watered
By the One above
So the bud can grow into a flower.

When we are a flower
We praise thee hour by hour
For this wonderful Tree of Life

The Tree of Life
Will never fail
In times of trouble and strife.

One thing we know,
The bud will grow
Into a flourishing flower of life
