Hantuchova gave women's tennis a much-needed boost in 2002, her elegant all-court game providing a welcome alternative to the raw power of many of the top 10. The Slovakian was touted in many quarters as the "new Anna" but Hantuchova has shrugged off such comparisons and focused instead on improving her ranking. Hantuchova's rise began in spectacular style in March when she captured the prestigious Indian Wells title, the first of her career. Her Grand Slam form has been solid rather than dramatic, a quarter-final showing at Wimbledon her best effort yet. Having taken a set from Venus Williams in the third round of last year's Australian Open, she will look to improve on that this year. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
