Grosjean will be glad to have seen the back of 2002 after his world ranking dropped by 10 places in 12 months. It took until October for the Frenchman to reach his first final of the year and he took advantage, beating Mikhail Youzhny in St Petersburg. In the Grand Slam events he made the last eight at the French Open but was demolished by Marat Safin with embarrassing ease. The Davis Cup provided the highlights as he won six of his eight matches, but that could not make up for the disappointment of losing the final to Russia on home soil. At 5ft 9in, Grosjean is one of the smallest players on the tour and he will have to rediscover his best form if he is to return to the top five. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
