Andre Agassi cruised into the final of the Australian Open with a comprehensive 6-2 6-2 6-3 victory over Wayne Ferreira.

The unseeded South African was a surprise semi-finalist, but he was nowhere near producing another shock by beating Agassi.

Agassi, seeded second, broke Ferreira at the start of the first and second sets and went on to secure second breaks in each set as he took total control.

Ferreira's two-handed backhand let him down, and he had no answer to Agassi's powerful and pin-point ground strokes.

Ferreira managed to delay the inevitable slightly in the third set by holding his first three service games, but another loose backhand gave Agassi the break at 4-3.

The South African earned two break points against Agassi's serve in the next game, but the American gave him no chance on either opening.

Ferreira never looked like producing a shock

And Agassi rounded off the match in just 88 minutes with another break to seal the third set 6-3.

He now faces Rainer Schuettler or Andy Roddick in Sunday's final.

"It's a different match when you can get off to a good start in each set," said Agassi.

"I was hitting my serve well and controlled the points - I can't complain about how it went today.

"It's two days off now, not the normal groove, but there's one match to go and I'm guaranteed to come in ready.

"My tennis is where it needs to be so I'll just try to relax, watch the match tomorrow and then let it all hang out."
