Cream of 2000 top Davis Cup seedings

Lleyton Hewitt during Australia's 5-0 win over Brazil
Australia and Spain top the seedings for the 2001 Davis Cup ahead of Thursday's draw.

The two have yet to meet in this year's final, which takes place in Barcelona in December.

The United States, thrashed 5-0 by Spain in July, are seeded in the next band along with Sweden.

Brazil, the other beaten semi-finalists this year, are in the last pair of World group seeds.

Great Britain, relegated from the top flight after losing to Ecuador in July, are seeded first in the Euro/African zone group.

World group (16 nations, 8 seeds):
1-2 Australia and Spain
3-4 Sweden and US
5-6 France and Russia
7-8 Brazil and Germany

Euro/African zone group one (10 nations, 4 seeds):
1-2 Great Britain and Italy
3-4 Austria and Zimbabwe

American zone group one (6 nations, 2 seeds):
1-2 Canada and Chile

Asia/Oceania zone group one (8 nations, 4 seeds):
1-2 India and Uzbekistan
3-4 Japan and South Korea
