Malisse marches on
Tuesday's WTA round-up

Fourth seed Xavier Malisse advanced to the second round of the Milan Indoors event on Tuesday with a straight sets win over Brazilian Andre Sa.

Malisse served 14 aces
The 22-year-old Belgian served 14 aces on the way to a 6-4 6-4 win at the IOL arena.

The defeat leaves Sa still looking for his first victory of 2003.

Meanwhile, fifth seed Yevgeny Kafelnikov beat Argentine qualifier Marcelo Charpentier 6-2 7-5.

In Tuesday's other first-round action, Dutch veteran Richard Krajicek, a wild card entry, beat Russian Nikolay Davydenko 7-5 6-2.

Krajicek, playing in his first ATP indoor tournament since November 2000, rejoined the ATP circuit last year, following a 20-month absence after elbow surgery.

Krajicek will next take on Radek Stepanek, who stunned fellow Czech and top seed Jiri Novak on Monday.

Meanwhile, Swede Jonas Bjorkman saw off Czech Tomas Zib in straight sets, and Frenchman Julien Varlet beat Spaniard Feliciano Lopez.

France's Anthony Dupuis defeated Belarus' Vladimir Voltchkov 4-6 6-3 6-4, while Croat Ivan Ljubicic beat Olivier Rochus of Belgium 7-5 6-3.
