| Thursday, 13 December, 2001, 11:27 GMT Tim Henman ![]() Henman has been told to concentrate on attacking Date of birth: 09/09/1974 Nationality: British Grand Slams: None Britain's top player and the great hope for a first Wimbledon title since Fred Perry in 1936. Every year 'Henmania' reaches dizzy heights in SW19, but, as yet, he has fallen just short in his bid for a Wimbledon crown, the latest disappointment coming against Lleyton Hewitt in the 2002 semi-finals. Henman has been firmly established in the world's top 16 for the last few years, peaking at four after this year's Wimbledon. However, he has also struggled in the Grand Slams outside of Wimbledon. His serve and forehand can be erratic but more than anything he is prone to lapses in concentration. In 2001, Henman split with long-time coach David Felgate and began a new partnership with Larry Stefanki. Stefanki, who previously worked with Yevgeny Kafelnikov, has encouraged Henman to concentrate on his attacking strengths. As a result, he enjoyed his best year on the tour to date in 2002, winning his opening tournament in Adelaide and reaching three other finals. However, he missed out on the end-of-season Masters Cup, partly due to a shoulder injury which continues to be a concern. |
