Best wishes, George
George Best is a recovering alcoholic
BBC Sport Online has been swamped with thousands of get well messages for the recovering George Best, a selection of which will be presented to George and his family.

There's only one footballer worth talking about and that's you George. Get well soon.
Paul, UK

Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery from all your fans back home.
Bobby Hanna, N.Ireland

George, you're the greatest. Thanks for all the memories mate, wishing you every success. Sir Matt doesn't need you yet, we do.
Paul Johnson, England

God knows what you would be worth at today's vastly inflated prices
David Steel, Scotland

As someone who idolised you in your heyday and agonised at some of the pain you caused yourself, I hope you get well soon and your next appearance will be in the Theatre of Dreams and not a hospital theatre.
Mike Neal, UK

A pure class act, and God knows what you would be worth at today's vastly inflated prices. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and grab your second chance with both hands - and those dazzling feet. Good luck to you and your family.
David Steel, Scotland

God be with you George. We are pulling for you. I will always remember the way you talked to my children in Houston.
Walter Guest, USA

George, this get-well message comes from every British ex-pat in France. God bless!
Paul Hines, France

Get well soon Georgie, we're all thinking of you down here.
Mark, Louise, Alex and Grace, Australia

The hearts of all Mauritian Man United fans are praying for you
Subhash Jepaul, Mauritius

Nothing like a second chance George! I hope you make the best of it.
John Tummon, USA

All the best from the Woodstock Road.
Carol Courtney, NI

Please accept my best wishes for a quick recovery from the operation and for a rescue from your personal demon of drink. A recovering alcoholic, I have some sense of the pain you must be in. All the best to the all-time best.
Neil, Kiwi in Japan

There's more to life than "the juice", so enjoy your family and a second chance. God bless.
Sean Mcmanus, Australia

Take care of yourself George, not everyone gets a second chance at life! God Bless.
Elizabeth, Hong Kong

All the BEST George, get well soon, from all soccer fans in Australia.
Alan, Australia

The hearts of all Mauritian Man United fans are praying for you. Keep up the fight.
Subhash Jepaul, Mauritius

You have been given a second chance, use it wisely!
Pam, UK

Get well soon Georgie. You got a second chance, use it!
Alex, Wales

George, be a good lad and get yourself together.
Dave Kent, England

George, you were my hero when I was growing up in the 60s and you still are mate. You were the first true superstar of the modern footballing era and an inspiration to generations. Here's to a speedy recovery.
John Owen, India

I can still see you in the mid-60s at Windsor Park, Belfast, running past the Scottish defence as if they weren't there! You gave us so much to remember. Get well soon.
David Smith, Australia

All the very best to you George. You have given us many years of pleasure and we look forward to more. When I was kid we used to go to watch you play, and after one of your first games we walked up to the bus stop with you and got on the bus with you. Those were the days, eh? Get well soon George.
John Brady, Saudi Arabia

Now you can start to live again, so don't blow it! Your weekend column proves you are not stupid, so don't let anybody down George. You have been given a second chance, use it wisely!
Pam, UK

All the best for your new life. I hope you will respect your new liver and stay off the booze
Kashinath N Dandeker, India

My thoughts and prayers are with both George, his family and the donor's family. My mother's death nearly a year ago helped three other people to live, including someone who received her liver. Being able to make something good come out of the worst time of our lives as a family helped us enormously.

Please, everyone, carry a donor card and make your wishes known - and relatives, respect those wishes. We didn't need to think twice because we'd discussed it so many times whenever the shortage of donor organs hit the news.
Michelle, England

Pure genius then and still a class act today. All the best Georgie.
Terry Conway, Hong Kong

You really are The Best George. I consider myself blessed that I saw you play for many years all over the country. I was in the Man Utd London Fan Club, and we met on a train once going back to Euston after a Derby Game. Anyway, much love to you and the Mrs.
Kim Gold, England

Best wishes during your time in hospital George - our thoughts and prayers are with you each day. It is good to see you back on your feet and making the most of your life again. We will always remember your football skills and how you entertained the crowds. You still have much to offer us, even though your playing days are over.
Gary Knott, England

Do it for the family of the donor George, show them the respect the gift of life deserves
Paul, Wales

All the best for your new life. I hope you will respect your new liver and stay off the booze. I saw you at your best in 1966.
Kashinath N. Dandeker, India

Good luck, George, I'll be thinking of you. You meant everything to me when I was a kid back in Belfast, and you will always have a very special place in my heart. Get well soon, and keep telling it like it is!
Brian, USA

All the best for a speedy recovery George. And all please spare a thought for the family of the poor unfortunate soul who made this and other operations like it possible.
Ian Hollis, Rochdale, England

Good luck George. My wife was unable to get a liver when needed and she died. So count your blessings and make good use of it. Also enjoy your Sunday column. Straight to the point, not like when you played, running around all over the place.
Graeme, UK

I gratefully received a liver transplant in October 1996 after many months of hospitalisation for alcholic induced liver disease. I have not drunk alcohol since and now six years later lead a full and happy life. I am currently on holiday in Greece. George, you can return to a full and happy life and I wish you and your wife well for your new life together. May God be with you.
Ronald Green, England

All our thoughts are with you and Alex, and not least the family of the donor - do it for them George, show them the respect the gift of life deserves...Good Luck Mate!
Paul, Wales

Simon Ball, Houston, USA
