| Wednesday, 22 May, 2002, 20:11 GMT 21:11 UK Regan's Bath days over Regan played for England A this winter Bath coach Michael Foley has told former England hooker Mark Regan he has no future with the struggling West Country club. Regan, 30, still has two years remaining on his contract but Bath say they have offered him "the opportunity to further his career elsewhere". Regan, capped 23 times by England and a former British Lion, joined Bath five seasons ago and was a member of their 1998 Heineken Cup-winning team. But Foley recently signed ex-Cardiff and Wales hooker Jonathan Humphreys, 33, to join Andy Long and Lee Mears on their books. A Bath statement read: "After a poor season, Bath Rugby clearly needed to make changes to the squad to re-establish not only its short-term goals, but also the future prosperity of the club." Director of rugby vacancy Regan will start on the bench for England's game against the Barbarians at Twickenham on Sunday and is unlikely to be short of offers. Bristol, Regan's former club, could be among any interested parties. Bath finished second from bottom in this season's Zurich Premiership and failed to win an away game during the entire campaign. Foley took over from Jon Callard in March. Bath are also seeking a director of rugby to spearhead their efforts next season. | See also: 12 May 02 | English 08 May 02 | English 25 Apr 02 | Celtic 18 Apr 02 | English 05 Mar 02 | English Top English stories now: Links to more English stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
