In an impassioned outburst, he said that the talent is in the Welsh game but that the structure is denying players and coaches the chance to compete. "The domestic competition we play in week-in, week-out is not a platform for the Celtic League or Europe - it's second class," he said. "At the moment, we're all crap!" Jones praised the efforts of the powerful Munster side, but felt frustrated that his players were denied the chance to show their worth. "We played well in patches, but the intensity was too much and we came off second best," he said. "We knew where Munster were strong, but we couldn't do anything about it. When people make mistakes you have to make them pay.
Llanelli Director of Rugby Gareth Jenkins, whose club is leading the opposition to the latest reform plans put forward by the WRU, does not feel that Wales should be rushed into mistakes in the rebuilding process.
"We have to respect that there are some great teams out there, too. "Neath just weren't ready to play against one of Europe's great sides." |
