BBC recruits star-studded team
GBR Challenge will be racing for the right to meet Team New Zealand in the America's Cup
GBR Challenge will contest the America's Cup for Britain
The BBC's exclusive live coverage of sailing's premier event, the America's Cup, will be presented by Peter Snow and British yachtswoman Ellen MacArthur this Autumn.

Olympic sailing gold medallists Ben Ainslie and Shirley Robertson and round-the-world sailor Tracey Edwards will provide the expert analysis.

Peter Snow said: "I'm a keen sailor and to work on the coverage of the world's greatest sailing competition alongside the likes of Ellen MacArthur will be a hugely rewarding experience."

The America's Cup programming will start on 3 October on BBC Two with highlights on Saturday Grandstand on BBC One.

Coverage will continue until the end of the Louis Vuitton Cup challengers' series on 22 January and will recommence with the America's Cup final series from 15 February until 1 March.

BBC Sport Online will also follow the races, as well as producing regular webcasts with key members of the British team.

There will also be analysis, maps, photos, interaction and games - enabling sailing fans to keep up to date with all the action.

Radio Five Live listeners will be able to follow the action live with extensive coverage from the "Up All Night" team.

Nine countries will compete in the Louis Vuitton Cup for the right to face the America's Cup holders, New Zealand, for sport's oldest trophy.

Peter Harrison's GBR Challenge represents Britain's first entry in the event for 15 years.

No British team has ever won the America's Cup in the competition's 151 year history.

Andrew Thompson, BBC Sport's Head of New Media, Sports News and Development said: "We have brought together a fantastic team to head our coverage of the America's Cup.

"The infectious enthusiasm of Peter Snow, together with the world-class expertise of Ellen MacArthur, Tracey Edwards, Ben Ainslie and Shirley Robertson will bring to life the excitement of one of the world's great sporting events."
