| Tashawak too strong Richard Hills has an easy victory on Tashawak The stylish Tashawak continued to impress with an easy victory in the Falmouth Stakes on the second day of the July meeting at Newmarket. The 5-2 favourite, ridden by Richard Hills, was the winner by a length and a half from Golden Silca and Kootenay. Tashawak took the lead with around two furlongs remaining and was never troubled after that. It was the second victory of the day for trainer John Dunlop, who celebrated his 63rd birthday on Wednesday. Earlier veteran Pat Eddery had guided Bonecrusher to success in the keenly-contested Bonusprint Stakes.
The 7-1 shot edged out Salute, ridden by Jason Tate. Tate was later given a three-day ban for careless riding. Mister Links justified his favourite's tag to take the TNT July Stakes. Ridden by Richard Hughes and trained by Richard Hannon, the 2-1 shot continued his unbeaten run edging out his stable companion Tacitus (7-1). The Bonus King, ridden by Keith Dalgliesh, had made much of the early running in the six-furlong race. But entering the final quarter mile, Hughes led his mount through for his second win of the meeting. |
