Millar heads to Belgium
David Millar takes on the mountains during the Tour de France
Millar is entered in the road race and time trial
Tour de France stage winner David Millar and Commonwealth Games road race champion Nicole Cooke will lead Great Britain's challenge at the world road cycling championships in Belgium next month.

Millar, currently riding high in the standings of the Tour of Spain, is entered in the road race and the time trial, in which he won a silver medal at last year's worlds.

British champion Julian Winn will join Millar in the elite road race. La Francaise des Jeux professional Bradley Wiggins will ride the elite time trial.

Nicole Cooke
Cooke's maturity has won her a senior place
Cooke, 19, will lead a team of six in the women's elite road race also featuring fellow Commonwealth medallist Rachel Heal.

Cooke has already won four world championships at junior level, and her maturity has led British Cycling bosses to select her for her first senior road world championships.

But she will not ride the worlds time trial, where Frances Newstead and Emma Davies are selected for the events around the former Grand Prix motor racing circuit at Zolder.

In her first senior national championships, in 1999, Cooke surprised everyone with a fine victory. The Commonwealth title was her first international senior title.
