Taylor reigns supreme
Phil Taylor took his 10th world title earlier this year.
Phil Taylor overcame John Part's resistance
Phil Taylor completed a darts grand slam with a 7-3 win over John Part in the Paddy Power World Grand Prix final in Dublin.

'The Power' had already claimed this year's world title, Desert Classic and World Matchplay titles.

Taylor admitted before the tournament he also wanted to a produce another magical nine-dart finish after nailing one in Blackpool during the summer.

He was unable to produce one - made all the more difficult by the double start format of this tournament - but was still celebrating after defeating world number two Part.

The Stoke sensation opened with a 13-dart finish in the first leg and went on to take the set 3-1.

Conceded

Part, who produced a superb 149 checkout during that set, was not playing badly but Taylor raced into a two-set lead.

The Canadian hit back by taking next set 3-1, but normal service was resumed in the fourth set as Taylor won all three legs.

He followed that up with checkouts of 110 and 153 to open up a three-set lead.

Part also conceded the next set before staging a superb rally which would have brought him back into contention against any other player on the circuit.

He dropped just one of the next seven legs, including a superb 132 checkout, to reduce the deficit to 5-3.

But Taylor won the ninth set 3-0. Both players shared the next four legs, but Taylor won the decider with double five to clinch victory.
