| Trulli keeps Monaco points Trulli's battle to fend off Fisichella was not in vain Italian Jarno Trulli and his Renault team will keep their points for fourth place in Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix after Formula One's ruling body cleared them of any technical breach. The FIA inspected the electronics of Trulli's car on Tuesday after a seal was found to be missing from its electronics control unit. An FIA statement said that a suspect electronic unit "was found to be in conformity with the requirements of the F1 technical regulations." The unit formed part of the car's launch control system, which governs electronics used at the start of races. The compliance inspection took place at Renault's factory in Oxfordshire. The ruling did not follow the precedent set in 2000 when McLaren suffered a similar problem. A seal was found to be missing from the electronics control unit on Mika Hakkinen's car after the Austrian Grand Prix. McLaren lost their points in the constructors' championship even though the seal had been left off by an FIA employee and the electronics were in full compliance with the rules. |
