Shellfish striker moves on
David Beckham opens up new horizons for the Japanese, plus other quirky stories doing the rounds.
BBC Sport Online picks out some of the quirky, offbeat or plain daft stories doing the rounds.

Shellfish striker moves on

A Norwegian football team has agreed to sell one of its strikers in exchange for his weight in fresh prawns.

Striker Kenneth Kristensen will be weighed carefully before he moves from Third Division side Vindbjart to rivals Flekkeroy.

His new team will then present Vindbjart with an equal weight of prawns.

The bizarre deal was agreed at a Vindbjart board meeting, according to the Faedrelandsvennen newspaper.

Vindbjart club president Vidar Ulstein said: "Kenneth is under contract with us, so we had to demand some kind of compensation."

On the left hand side is... Deepdale

World Cup fever may have subsided long ago in Japan, but the cult of David Beckham is still very much alive.

The England skipper is so big in the Land of the Rising Sun that the Japanese Tourist Board plans to market special David Beckham pilgrimage tours of England.

Camera-toting tourists could soon be shunning Nelson's Column and the Tower of London in favour of Salford and Alderley Edge.

It could also spell good news for Preston North End as tour guides bring in busloads of holidaymakers to Deepdale to visit the scene of Beckham's loan spell seven years ago.

The tour, however, is not expected to take in St Etienne and Brooklyn, two of the more interesting sites from Beckham's past.

The midfielder who never grew up

A Brazilian footballer has been suspended by Fifa after admitting he had been playing under a false name.

Chievo midfielder Eriberto announced last month that he had changed his identity to help his career by making teams believe he was younger than he actually was.

The former Palmeiras and Bologna player is in fact called Luciano Siqueira de Oliveira and is four years older than he had claimed to be.

The 27-year-old had previously been listed as Eriberto Silva da Conceicao, born in Rio de Janiero in 1979.

Unless Eriberto, sorry Luciano, can come up with convincing grounds for appeal, he would appear to be set for early retirement.
