Steaming up
BBC Sport Online's Chris Charles picks out some of the quirky, offbeat or plain daft stories doing the rounds.

Steamy business

A Finnish woman has successfully defended her 'sauna-sitting' title.

Annikka Peltonen, 54, managed to sweat it out for 13 minutes 32 seconds before coming out for air.

Her nearest male rival was three-times gold medal-winner Leo Pusa, who managed 12 minutes 10 seconds to win the men's competition.

Eighty contestants from 16 countries sizzled in temperatures of 110 degrees centigrade at the saunas near Heksinki - 17c higher than last year.

Ms Peltonen, 54, said: "My opponents were very good, but I could have lasted longer if needed."

In other words, no sweat.

Keane to put things right

Roy Keane is purportedly seeking help from an anger management book in a bid to curb his temper.

The Manchester United captain was snapped by The Sun with a copy of Don't Sweat The Small Stuff, by Richard Carlson.

The newspaper said some of the tips on offer included: "Resist the urge to criticise", "Stop blaming others" and "Practise humility."

"Try not to lose the plot at World Cups" is expected to feature in the sequel.

Freitas sees the light

Boxer Acelino Freitas literally had the lights turned out on his junior lightweight world title defence.

The little Brazilian was half-way through his contest with Daniel Attah of Nigeria when the power at Phoenix's Dodge Theater went down.

After 30 seconds of chaos, normality was restored and Freitas went on to get the decision and retain his WBO and WBC crowns.

It brings a whole new meaning to the term punching someone's lights out.

Barbie and groan

Police are hunting thieves who stole a bright pink Barbie-sponsored racing car from a motel car park.

The incident happened near Trois Rivieres, Quebec, while driver Ashley Laws and the rest of the crew slept.

Taws, 18, is desperate for the missing Formula Ford to be returned.

Last week she achieved a pole position in the car - the first female Indy driver to do so in a professional Canadian racing event

Look on the bright side, Ashley - it shouldn't be that difficult to find.
