Flintoff has been sent to Adelaide to complete his rehabilitation with more specialist care from the medical team with the England Academy side.

England physio Kirk Russell cannot give his undivided attention to Flintoff in Perth because he has three other players recovering from injuries too.

Flintoff told BBC Radio Five Live: "I'm disappointed but hopefully when I get to Adelaide I will have the undivided attention of the physio there.

"Hopefully by going there I will get fit quicker. I'm not ruling myself out of the first Test match but I don't know if I'm going to play or not."

Flintoff had the operation following the third Test against India in August but has failed to recover as quickly as expected.

He went on: "I've done a lot of soft tissue work with the physio pushing and prodding me and putting me in positions I don't necessarily like.

"But the scars are only five to six weeks old - I don't know how long it's going to be. It might be four days it might be three weeks."
