| Caddick awaits scan Caddick feels the pain on Saturday evening Andy Caddick will find out on Tuesday how much cricket he will miss after pulling up with a side strain on Saturday evening. Caddick, England's only experienced seamer so far this summer in the continued absence of Darren Gough, was not able to take any further part in the final Test. But he will have a scan on the affected area to establish exactly how long his absence from cricket will be. Caddick, 33, said he was disappointed to be missing out as England attempted to force a victory over the last two days of the Test. "It's good to play, regardless of the situation," he said.
"Unfortunately it's happened and unfortunately we still don't know how long it's going to take." The Somerset paceman is a notoriously bad watcher of cricket and he found it hard watching Alex Tudor and co make in-roads into the Sri Lankan batting. Caddick said: "I hate watching cricket. It's furstrating - I want to be part of it myself. "But Alex Tudor has shown Nasser Hussain the sort of bowler he is and the fact is he's one for the future. "The boys have done the job, we've worked out what we should and shouldn't be doing against their batters. "It's a hard wicket to bowl on but the boys have done well. If they continue like that on Monday morning then we are in with a chance." One-day doubts Caddick said it was impossible to speculate how long he will be absent but it seems likely that he will not now be available for the start of the NatWest Triangular Series. The round robin one-day tournament features England, Sri Lanka and India, and Sri Lanka may have to cope without Marvan Atapattu. The opening batsman was rapped on the hand by Andrew Flintoff while batting on Saturday. And though it is not yet clear whether he has broken anything, he did not return to complete his innings after retiring hurt. |
