| Friday, 10 January, 2003, 12:06 GMT Pierson handed promotion
Pierson, in charge of the second XI for the last two years, takes over from Colin Wells, who left the post in the middle of last season after dressing-room tension. Long-serving Karl Krikken is to take on the role of second XI coach, but the wicket-keeper will still be available for selection for the first team. "I am really pleased that the club has two such well respected candidates within its own grasp," chief executive John Smedley told the club's website. "They are in a prime position to continue the progress made, particularly last season, having intimate knowledge of the existing playing staff. "This just seems like a sensible and natural progression for all concerned." |
