Welsh rugby international Non Evans has been selected to represent Wales at the Commonwealth Games in her third sport.

Evans starred for Wales at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in the weightlifting and judo squads and now has been named Wales's 2010 wrestling team captain.

The 35-year-old won the under-59kgs class at the Welsh Championships before her British silver medal last month.

And Olympic freestyle wrestler Evans was chosen to star for Team Wales in Delhi when the panel met on Wednesday.

The Swansea-born athlete won Commonwealth Championship silver medals for Judo and she took up her latest challenge after advice from national wrestling coach Alan Jones, who was her former judo trainer.

Full-back Evans is set to add to her 75 caps for the Welsh women's rugby team when they appear in next month's World Cup.

But Evans is expected to retire from rugby after the summer showpiece to prepare for her second Commonwealth Games appearance in India in October.

She is current nursing a knee injury but is "hoping to be back" to complete her double dream.

At the 2002 Commonwealths in Manchester, Evans became the first female to compete at two separate sports when she entered the weightlifting and judo competitions.

Evans finished seventh in the judo in the 2002 in the under-57kgs category and ninth in the under-63kgs weightlifting category.
