Tom Daley has been named the 2009 BBC Young Personality of the Year for the second time.

The 15-year-old from Plymouth pipped tennis prospect Heather Watson and up-and-coming sprinter Jodie Williams to the coveted title.

Daley, who first won the award in 2007 and was a top 10 contender this year, had an outstanding summer after picking up gold at the world championships.

The dive in Rome made Daley Britain's youngest world champion in any sport.

The young diver from Plymouth said: "It really does mean a lot. It's been a good year for me and I'd just like to thank everybody who has helped me."
