Barry Davies
Barry Davies
Barry Davies is one of the most experienced and versatile BBC commentators.

He joined BBC Radio in 1963 after leaving the Army, having gained his first broadcasting experience with the British forces network in Germany.

Barry then moved over to ITV and was part of their commentary team for the 1966 World Cup Finals. He also reported for ITV on the 1968 Olympic Games.

He rejoined the BBC in 1969 and has worked on a succession of major sports events including football World Cups and European Championships, Summer and Winter Olympics, Commonwealth Games and Wimbledon, of course.

Match of the Day's longest-serving commentator, he also covers ice skating, gymnastics, badminton, hockey and rowing.

Barry was part of the BBC's award-winning Sydney Olympics team.
