A one-sided tie-break, with Serena showing awesome power off both flanks. Venus does her best to hang on, but her younger sister powers through.
However, there is some confusion about the winning point - umpire Jane Harvey appears to call 'let' on Serena's serve, but no-one hears it, and after 46 minutes on court, Serena walks to the chair a set to the good.

Serena regains some composure to take the first set to a tie-break. The crowd start to get into the match, but an exciting tie-break would really get them going.

An amazing transformation in the balance of the set, and maybe the match. Venus has grabbed back the initiative - she has now won eight straight points.

Serena shows her trademark power from the baseline, especially on her backhand. But Venus hangs on bravely, getting more balls back and forcing mistakes from her sister. Serena fails the test, and Venus is level once again. Has the momentum shifted?

Venus holds comfortably, so it's down to Serena to serve out the first set.

Serena's serve is holding up extremely well - she holds to love with her second ace of the match, and her 39th of the championship. She is winning over 90% of points on her first serve - and is one game away from the first set.

Venus responds with her best game so far - much better serving and more accurate off the ground. The match is beginning to come alive.

Serena shows greater intensity, and no little power on her backhand to hold serve. She is having the better of the set at the moment, and moves Venus around the court in several rallies as she holds to 30.

The third successive break of serve, thanks to more errors from the server. Venus looks disgusted as she sends a backhand well wide. But if nothing else, it shows both are desperately striving to produce a match, and tennis worthy of the final.

Venus hits her first winner after the best rally of the match so far. But the game suddenly slips from her grasp, as an untimely double fault helps Serena earn the first break of the match.

Serena finds her range with her forehand, hitting three winners as she comfortably holds her first service game.

The defending champion takes the opening game, but neither player has settled into any sort of rhythm yet.
The duo warm up, with the weather overcast but dry. Umpire Jane Harvey calls time, and the eighth all-American women's final at Wimbledon is about to start. Venus wins the toss and elects to serve first. The players box is packed with the 'Williams team', including mother Oracene, coaches and physios. 1400 BST: The Williams sisters step out onto Centre Court to do battle in the women's final.
Venus and Serena look more nervous than normal, clearly focused on the great occasion ahead.
But they emerge to a great ovation, with the packed arena clearly hoping they can deliver a great match, something the pair have failed to do in their previous encounters.
It will be the third time they have met for a Grand Slam title: Venus beat Serena to win last year's US Open, while Serena took revenge more recently to win the French Open.
