Becker: Rusedski can win it
British number two Greg Rusedski
Evert believes Rusedski's intensity was crucial
Former Wimbledon champion Boris Becker believes Greg Rusedski has a realistic chance of lifting the Wimbledon title.

Rusedski produced one of his best ever displays on Friday to crush American Andy Roddick 6-3 6-4 6-2.

You can see that he is not satisfied with being in the fourth round - he wants to win it this year
Boris Becker

And Becker told BBC Two's Today at Wimbledon that if Rusedski maintains that level of performance, he could become the first British player to win a singles title at the SW19 tournament since Virginia Wade in 1977.

He said: "I was very impressed with Greg and the comments he made after the game.

"He is not getting carried away with a huge win and this was one of the best performances from him I have seen.

"You can see that he is not satisfied with being in the fourth round - he wants to win it this year.

"And he will realise that if he puts out another performance like that he has got a real chance of winning Wimbledon.

Can he keep up that intensity every match?
Chris Evert

"There is a long way to go, but he definitely has the potential."

Three-time Wimbledon champion Chris Evert agreed that Rusedski's performance had been highly impressive.

"The thing about Greg's win that really impressed me was his intensity.

"I don't know Greg as a person and I don't know his style very well, so my question is - can he keep up that intensity every match?

"This is only the third round, but I thought that intensity was what really helped him win that match.

"He was totally focused and did not let anything bother him."
