Is Ferrero a star of the future?

Juan Carlos Ferrero takes just three sets to beat Martin Verkerk in the French Open final.

Unseeded Dutchman Martin Verkerk booked his place in the final with a win over Argentina's Guillermo Coria.

But Ververk, who had never won a Grand Slam match before this tournament, just didn't have the skills to match Ferrero's game.

Is Ferrero a star of the future?

I am very happy for you, Juan Carlos! A thoroughly deserved win - I was rooting for you all the way! Also congrats to Martin Verkerk for an excellent fortnight. Good luck in your future careers.
Angela, Glasgow, Scotland

Congratulations Juan! I've seen you a few times before and you greatly deserve your win. All the best for Wimbledon!
Alex Ewing, London

Juan Carlos Ferrero is the best player in the world, he has all the shots and will be a possible winner at Wimbledon!! Remember, Nalbandian made the final last year. Good luck Juan.
Jonathan, Sheffield

Well done Juan. What a great tournament and a great match against Verkerk. The match against Gonzalez was probably the best match of the tournament, congrats to Juan Ferrero and good luck at Wimbledon.
Faz, England

Ok, Ferrero played a clinical match and certainly deserved to win, but if Verkerk's service had been like it was earlier in the tournament, it would have been a very close match!
Peter, Rotterdam, the Netherlands

A one-sided final, but only because Ferrero was outstanding
Andrew Young, UK

Well done Juan!! It's a credit to the hard work and dedication you have used to get this far, all the best for Wimbledon!!
Eddie, Crewe

Congratulations Juanca! One of the best French Open finals ever played! You proved to everyone you truly are the man to beat on clay. Wish you the same success on grass over the next few weeks!
Joanne, England

You are the best, Ferrero.
Elena, Spain

Ferrero is hardly going to be a star - yes, people know him in tennis circles, but the general public care little of him because he lacks emotion on court. His sour-faced nature will not endear him to the public.
Carlos, UK

A one-sided final, but only because Ferrero was outstanding. He fully deserves the title having been head and shoulders above every other player on clay this season. Well done!
Andrew Young, UK

The best man won, and we will see Ferrero win the French Open again. But that is as far as it goes for him, because his baseline game is suited for clay courts only. Verkerk can do well on other surfaces like grass, but SW19 will come too early for him this year, since he has never played on grass before and needs to learn to play the surface.
Rob, Surrey, UK

Now the challenge is to prove his versatility
Sachin Gandhi, USA

Congrats Juan Carlos, you have earned this win through hard work and dedication. I was so happy to see you lift that cup on the last day of Roland Garros.

Hewitt may already be there, Roddick, Blake, Safin may challenge, but it's Ferrero that will be number one soon! You're a great champion Juan Carlos, may this be the first of many Grand Slam titles.
P McAuley, Belfast, N. Ireland

Verkerk was too inexperienced and his serve let him down. Had he played as well as in previous rounds he might have had a chance. It wasn't a very exciting final, but that's partly because the BBC didn't show it live.
John, Cardiff

Ole Juanqui! You deserved this title, not only for your great performance at Roland Garros, but also throughout this clay court season. 28 matches, two defeats - and one of those defeats was when he retired hurt.
Sam, Leicester

Congrats "The Mosquito". You have finally done it!! The deserved win just underlines the new level of mental toughness which he has reached in past two weeks. He was always one of the favourites for the past four years. Good to achieve your childhood dream. All the best for another Grand Slam. Now the challenge is to prove his versatility.
Sachin Gandhi, Cincinnati,USA

The Mosquito has finally tasted blood after probing around for a long time. Ferrero is an outstanding clay-courter, in the league of Muster and Guga. He also has the potential to be a threat on the hard courts and he must now look to sharpen that aspect of his game. Welcome to the newest battleship in the already formidable Spanish Armada.
Arobind Velagapudi, Helsinki, Finland

You are a pleasure to watch playing tennis Juan Carlos
Avis & Rob Curnow, Australia

Yes, he going to be a star, and number one in the world. My wish is for Ferrero to go on to win three more Grand Slam titles. I wish you all the best.
R Kalislavan, Malaysia

Juan proved he has the mental toughness to win Grand Slams. I certainly think he is poised to become the most dominant player on clay in the history of tennis and someone every player will want to avoid meeting in all other tournaments he enters. Well done mate!!
Nelson, USA

You are a pleasure to watch playing tennis Juan Carlos, and you radiate peace and harmony, unlike some players who radiate too much hostility. Congratulations on your French Open win.
Avis & Rob Curnow, Australia

As a countryman of Martin I'm obviously disappointed that he lost the match. But I have to say that JC deserved to win, because he proved during the past two weeks that he is undoubtedly the best player on a clay court. So many congratulations to him. We might have seen someone who could dominate the French Open for the coming years now that he's captured his first win. Hope to see Martin keep playing this well. Cheers!!
Ramon, The Hague

Well done Juan, you made it! Excellent performance and I wish you luck at Wimbledon.
Swee, Malaysia

Congratulations Juan Carlos! A thoroughly deserved title and now he really is the 'King of Clay'!

Good Luck at Wimbledon Juan!
Phil Lloyd-Bushell, England

Again, Henman loses to the winner at a Grand Slam! Well done to Martin Verkerk too. What a great two weeks he has had, and with his booming serve, could do very well at Wimbledon. Good luck to both at SW19.
Sarah L, UK

Ferrero is undoubtedly the world's best player on clay. His lightning movement and devastating forehand are second to none. He is also a good player on hard courts so expect to see him do well at the US Open.

Martin Verkerk had a terrific tournament but having to beat Ferrero was just one feat too many for him. Depending on how the draw pans out, we could see a lot of him at Wimbledon this year as well as his attacking style and blistering serve will be well suited to the quick grass courts of SW19.
Frederick, England

Vamos Juanqui!!! You really deserve that trophy. We are proud of you, for your great record at RG and the great performance you have made this year. I wish you all the best in the future!!
Man, Hong Kong

I am really pleased that Ferrero won, not because he beat Verkerk, but he came here to win, and he thoroughly deserved it. Good Luck at Wimbledon Juan!
Phil Lloyd-Bushell, England
