Kim Clijsters and Ai Sugiyama won the French Open women's doubles title, beating Virginia Ruano Pascual and Paola Suarez 6-7 (5/7) 6-2 9-7.

Victory over the top seeded Spanish-Argentine pairing made it a memorable 20th birthday for Clijsters.

It also went some way to helping her get over Saturday's 6-0 6-4 loss to fellow Belgian Justine Henin-Hardenne in the women's singles final.

Pascual and Suarez took the first set on a tie-break, but Clijsters and her Japanese partner fought back to comfortably win the second.

They then clinched the trophy in the 16th game of a thrilling final set at Roland Garros.

In other action on Sunday, Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka beat America's Brian Baker 7-5 4-6 6-3 to take the boys' singles title.
