Andre Agassi put in another dominant display as he reached round three with an easy win over Czech Tomas Berdych. The reigning champion lost just eight games in his first-round win over Todd Larkham, and conceded a mere six as he beat Berdych 6-0 6-2 6-4.
While Agassi had few concerns in beating Berdych, afterwards he voiced the fears of all the tour's players over the nandrolone situation.
"All it takes is a trace of something - that scares everybody," he said.
"The reality of a professional tennis player's life is that you can't take anything, including lotion for a skin irritation.
"We have a real concern that only leaves us drinking water or certain bottled products and yet we wake up to the integrity of our sport being questioned and that's the shame of it."
Eighteen-year-old Berdych showed glimpses of form that suggest he may have a big future, but on the day was no match for the peerless Agassi.
Agassi was nonetheless complimentary about his opponent: "I think there was a lot of quality ball striking going on, from both sides," he said.
The Las Vegan, who will play Thomas Enqvist in round three, has now put together a run of 23 straight wins at Melbourne Park.
He won the title in 1995 and again on his last three visits in 2000, 2001 and 2003.
He missed the 2002 tournament through injury.
