Roddick will face Taylor Dent in round three |
Top seed Andy Roddick had no trouble in his second-round match against Bohdan Ulihrach of the Czech Republic. Roddick beat Ulihrach 6-2 6-2 6-3 in a typically blistering display that lasted just 73 minutes.
He fired down 20 aces, including one at 225km/h, and broke his opponent five times in the match.
"My serve felt great today," Roddick said. "I didn't use so many of the kicks because I felt like I was hitting my big one pretty well."
Roddick added that success has bred success in his rise up the rankings.
"I think the biggest difference is when I don't feel like I'm playing that well, I still have an underlying confidence, whereas before maybe I would have panicked a little bit more," he said.
Roddick should face a trickier proposition in the third round when he takes on 27th seed Taylor Dent.
Dent was taken all the way by Juan Ignacio Chela, twice coming from a set down before eventually coming through 3-6 6-4 4-6 7-6 (7/4) 7-5.
