Watson is a former US Open junior champion

Guernsey's Heather Watson went out in straight sets in the first round of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.

The 18-year-old, who was awarded a wild card for the tournament, lost 7-5 6-2 against Japan's Ayumi Morita.

Watson parted company with her coach Billy Wilkinson last week, and is yet to find a new one.

The Sarnian has risen steadily up the women's world rankings over the past year, and is currently number 123 in the world.
