2215:The crowd are understandably chuffed and it will be interesting to see what atmosphere they stir up for both these semi-finals - remember Michael Llodra is through to face Robin Soderling on the other side of the draw. Thanks for your involvement tonight, see you back here in nine days time or so for all the action for the World Tour Finals.
LauraH7320 on 606: "Is this really such a bad thing, considering what's coming up? Also, is it really so surprising?"
Murray 2-6 6-2 3-6 Monfils Monfils is a tangle of limbs as he slips at the net and Murray claws back a second point to level at 30-30, but Monfils looks far more composed as he slides one down the line to set up match point. The execution is ruthless. Murray offers up a delicious invitation on Monfils' backhand and the Frenchman rifles a shot across court to graciously accept. Murray heads to London, Monfils heads off to prepare for a clash with Roger Federer.
*Murray 2-6 6-2 3-5 Monfils Did someone say pressure? Monfils wafts a sublime forehand down the line, delivers a delicate little drop-shot, finally smears a volley into the open court, dusts himself down and passes the gauntlet back to Murray. Just like that.
Murray 2-6 6-2 3-4 Monfils* An abrupt "si vous-plait" from the umpire at the start of the game brings a reaction from the crowds and a grin from Murray, but the Scot is less happy as he finds himself 15-30 down. A grimace, a grab at his elbow, and he is back in it though. Pressure back on Monfils.
*Murray 2-6 6-2 2-4 Monfils A wild forehand from Monfils exits stage right to allow Murray back to 30-30 and set some nerves jangling amongst the spectators. He pulls himself together though and moves two games clear.
Murray 2-6 6-2 2-3 Monfils* Neither player seems inclined to risk anything in a cagey opening point which Monfils finally gets the better of. The Frenchman follows up with a nice volley and suddenly there are questions for Murray and an increase in volume from the crowd as he drops to 0-30 down. A double-fault from Murray encourages the locals some more as Monfils earns two break points. Murray salvages both, but eventually comes unstuck on a third as a jumpy forehand curls between the tramlines. The tricolores are getting an ominous airing.
*Murray 2-6 6-2 2-2 Monfils Some nice lounge vocals in the inter-game music there, Murray twirls his racquet in appreciation. He can't use it to better effect in the game though and Monfils holds comfortably.
Murray 2-6 6-2 2-1 Monfils* Monfils sends a sloppy return long to put Murray 30-15 up and then sees a very optimistic challenge turned down. Murray forces the issue at the net and, by the looks of it, Monfils exhausted his quiver of winners in the first set.
*Murray 2-6 6-2 1-1 Monfils With Murray 0-15 up, the crowd take exception to his request to review a serve called good. The home crowd are vindicated but Murray gets some revenge with an exquisite scoop over their man in the next point. Monfils takes a marathon point to move 40-30 up but immediately wastes his work by landing a forehand somewhere close to the toe of line judge's shoes. As the pressure builds Monfils holds it together through and presses on through with a cute volley at the net.
Murray 2-6 6-2 1-0 Monfils* Momentum with the Scot now I'd say. A forehands skips merrily across the surface before a big serve gives it a bit of a bruising. Another service game to love for the man from Dunblane.
*Murray 2-6 6-2 Monfils Briefly Monfils' game looks as baggy as his shorts as he slips to 0-30, but he tightens things up and sends Murray into the front row with a wide forehand. The fight is brief though and Monfils' brain is already on the decider as he puts a limp forehand into the net. Murray takes the second 6-2.
Murray 2-6 5-2 Monfils* Monfils slams a smash into the ground so hard it bounces higher than I could hit it. But his explosiveness is matched by a beautiful angled shot from Murray and a solid serve to move 40-30 up. Murray almost takes the fuzz off the ball with an attempted forehand down the line, but it is into the net and Monfils has deuce. Murray's backhand in the next rally also heads south and sparks a lengthy monologue as he attempts to gee himself up. At the third attempt he finds his range to save the break, but skews one into the tramlines on his backhand to hand the initiative back to Monfils. Finally Murray finds his rhythm and rattles off three points, including a final searing serve, to see off the challenge and stay ahead.
*Murray 2-6 4-2 Monfils I spoke to soon perhaps. 0-30 to Murray and then Monfils, under no pressure, sprays wide to give him three break points. The Frenchman looks exposed at the net in the first but is happy to see Murray's patted return to his smash find the net. But there is no escape on the second as Murray wins a close-up encounter at the net. Murray goes a break up.
pottiella on 606: "I think the main thing in this match is that Andy's serve ain't working"
Murray 2-6 3-2 Monfils* Murray's serve was comfortingly secure there as he holds to love and edges ahead once more. These two look like they are going to take some splitting in this set.
*Murray 2-6 2-2 Monfils Murray attempts to wrong-foot Monfils with a backhand against the grain but, with an anguished shout, it is wide and Monfils slaps away a winner to take the game.
Murray 2-6 2-1 Monfils* Monfils leans into a lazy backhand down the line and pulls back to 30-15, but Murray welcomes an ace in the next point with a series of "C'mons" that echo unanswered around the stands. SW19 seems a long way away. Another big serve and the game is his and is there a hint of tiredness about Monfils?
*Murray 2-6 1-1 Monfils Monfils challenges one out wide, but the line-judge had it right - it missed by a whisker. But that setback doesn't seem to have broken his soft-shoe shuffle around the court as he gets to a volley at the net and then serves out emphatically.
Murray 2-6 1-0 Monfils* More like it from Murray who finds some snap in his serve and after a double fault sends a rocket arching right into the apex of Monfils service box to take the opening game.
*Murray 2-6 Monfils Nerves from Monfils perhaps? Afraid not Murray fans. It is brutally business-like. Four massive serves in succession and Murray folds to love. He will have to find some way to slam the brakes on Monfils pretty sharpish.
Murray 2-5 Monfils* A Murray drop-shot looks for all the world a winner but Monfils eats up the yards and punishes it to move 30-15 up. The Scot then sees a net cord head earthward to hand two break points to Monfils. It looks like Murray has gifted it to his opponent with a double fault but the players are hauled back off their chairs as Murray is reprieved by Hawk Eye. A deft Murray forehand brings up deuce and Monfils has a chance at the net but can't quite pick up a sliced backhand. He makes the most of his next chance though and will be serving for the set next. Think I saw Murray giving his troublesome wrist a testing waggle as well there...
*Murray 2-4 Monfils Monfils swats a smash out of the floodlit night sky to set up two game points but dumps into the net rather feebly on the first and then pushes a nothing forhand long on the second. Could this be Murray's chance to break back? Another Monfils mistake and he has a first break point, but Monfils' serve keeps him in it. Murray shuttles from side to side playing a string of shots from around his ankles but Monfils eventually finds a way past him and then serves into the body to take the game.
Murray 2-3 Monfils* Murray prods a forehand down the line and suddenly Monfils is sprinting to the backcourt from where his ambitious hotdog finds the net. If that had gone in the roof would have come off. As it is a forehand floats long and Murray grabs a little foothold in the set.
*Murray 1-3 Monfils Monfils slaps away a high forehand to trigger some encouraging rhythmic handclaps, then rolls his wrist over another beauty and he has held to love.
Murray 1-2 Monfils* There is a lot of love for Monfils in the stadium now after he improvises impressively to move ahead and then cranks up the pace to move a break up. A few errors from Murray in there as well to help the Frenchman on his way. Hmmm.
From Jimbob in Glasgow via text: "It's a haggis versus a crepe; the haggis to win in two."
*Murray 1-1 Monfils Monfils dabs a backhand volley over to move 30-15 up and ahead for the first time in the match, but skies one off the frame in the next point. A whipped forehand has Murray scampering in vain though on the next point and the Scot duly nets to level affairs.
Murray 1-0 Monfils * Murray holds to love in his opening game as he did last night against Marin Cilic. A brief tumble for Monfils had the crowd worried for a second but he back up and on his feet.
* denotes NEXT to serve 2019: The players are out on court. Monfils is sporting matching knee supports to keep his patellas in place while his coach Roger Rasheed gets stuck into an apple courtside. Murray in, perhaps patriotic, blue.
pottiella on 606: "off to get dinner out the way, so hopefully it'll be enough to miss Andy's slow start and break of his serve before getting back in time to see him settle down"
2011: Monfils is trailing 3-1 in previous meetings with Murray, but he took Djokovic to three sets in the final of the last year's event so knows his way around this particular court. Could be another lengthy evening for the Scot unless he is in one of his clinical mood.
2004: To balance out all the French support for Monfils, your help might be required to cheer on Murray. Some partisan bellowing or astute tactical insight all welcome via text on

606. 2001: A fit and firing Roger Federer has seen off Jurgen Melzer 6-1 7-6 (7-4) as the warm-up act. The Swiss maestro is looking pretty slick in Rafael Nadal's absence. What price a third successive tournament for him after wins in Basle and Stockhom? He is up next for Murray or Monfils.
1956: Good evening all. The Parisians are packing the stands in Bercy to see if home favourite Gael Monfils can put one over on British number one Andy Murray. The final three qualifying places for the ATP's World Tour Finals were firmed up by Monfils' win over Fernando Verdasco in the previous round with Tomas Berdych, David Ferrer and Andy Roddick completing the line-up for the 02. Tonight the focus is on a little French-British rivalry and, with Michael Llodra booking his semi-final place earlier, they are in buoyant mood on that side of the Channel.
