Britain's Anne Keothavong was beaten in straight sets in the second round of the Generali Ladies event in Austria.

The 27-year-old Londoner went down 6-0 6-3 to Germany's Andrea Petkovic at the tournament in Linz.

Keothavong, who was out for three weeks with a hip injury prior to the tournament, admitted she wasn't feeling at her best.

She said: "I think I got out of the wrong side of the bed today and got punished for starting sluggishly."

Petrovic, ranked 36, now advances to the quarter-finals along with Italy's Sara Errani who beat Czech qualifier Renata Voracova 6-2 6-2.

Keothavong told her website: "She [Petkovic] is having the best year of her career and is playing with lots of confidence, where as I'm still trying to find my form consistently."

Keothavong had managed a confidence-boosting three set win over world number 41 Jarmila Groth the day before, but couldn't repeat her efforts on Wednesday.

"I played a great match the other day against Jarmila but I just wasn't able to produce much of it today," Keothavong said.

"I still have doubles here this week with Tatiana Poutchek before I head to Luxembourg for my final WTA event of the year," she added.

In a first round match played on Wednesday, the fifth seed Petra Kvitova, of the Czech Republic, beat Anastasia Rodionova after the Australian pulled up with a muscle strain in her left leg while trailing 6-2 1-0.
