Federer has an unexpected free day in New York on Sunday

"I won't watch. Look, I've been around tennis for weeks and weeks and weeks right now. Last thing I want to do is watch another tennis match which I'm not a part of. I will spend some time with my kids and take it easy, maybe go shopping."
Roger Federer must make alternative plans on the final day of the US Open for the first time since 2003.

"I would have loved to play against him here. I mean, I did my hard yards the last six years making it to the finals, and he was unfortunately never there."
Federer is as disappointed as many observers in missing out on the 'dream final' with Nadal

"I don't know the rituals to invite the rain but an extra day would be great actually."
Novak Djokovic is not too upset by the gloomy weather forecast for Sunday in New York.

"If it goes in, it goes in. If it goes out, you know, another loss to Federer in the US Open."
And Djokovic explains how he saved those two match points.

"I would love to play against another player than Roger in the final, because he is the best."
With the second semi-final still going on, Rafael Nadal is asked about the 'dream final'.

"....but always you have a risk, and you have to - I don't know. In English is not - I am not inspired today. Only inspiration was on court."
A smiling Nadal finally runs out of steam at the end of his press conference.

"This might be the most I've ever wanted Kim Clijsters to lose serve. She's such a great person, but this is difficult to watch right now."
John McEnroe on commentary during the one-sided women's final.

"I was trying to find a way to pump myself up, to change something up."
Vera Zvonareva on what led to her warning for racket abuse.

"You have to be nice."
Mikhail Youzhny is asked about his pre-match comment, saying he want to "be the bad person" and ruin the dream final by beating Nadal.

"I've had Chipotle here. It's right across from the street from our hotel. I've had it 14 nights in a row."
American junior Jack Sock has consistent eating habits in New York.
