US Open quotes - day 12

Bob (left) and Mike Bryan congratulate Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi (left) and Rohan Bopanna
The Bryans beat Qureshi and Bopanna but this was not all about the result

"The IndoPak Express was rolling pretty well until we met these guys."
Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan after he and Indian partner Rohan Bopanna become the ninth men's doubles team to lose to twins Bob and Mike Bryan in a Grand Slam final.

"I want to say that every time I come here, I feel there is a very wrong perception about Pakistan being a terrorist country - but we are very friendly, loving, and caring people."
Qureshi uses the post-match interview to get his point across.

"It choked me up. I could see him, he was quivering a little bit; he was very choked up. Just to give that message to everyone was very heartfelt."
Bob Bryan gives Qureshi's statement a firm thumbs-up.

"It's just a match and it's just a game. A lot of people in Pakistan don't have homes and are out on the street. What these guys are doing bringing India and Pakistan together is very special. It shows that sport can bring people together."
Mike Bryan, who along with his brother has donated generously to an appeal fund set up for the Pakistan floods, is also full of praise for the IndoPak Express.

"I made it to the semi-finals of the US Open and when I look back on this tournament I can be proud of what I've achieved."
Caroline Wozniacki looks on the bright side after failing to live up to her billing as the top seed and tournament favourite.

"It was a great experience for me at Wimbledon but I think it's in the past, I'm trying to look forward at the moment and am just enjoying this day, my win today."
Vera Zvonareva politely reminds courtside interviewer Mary Jo Fernandez that, having just reached the US Open final, there's no longer any need to keep harping on about her Wimbledon exploits.

"I'm gonna keep playing. At this point I'm striking the ball well, so there is no end in sight at the moment."
Venus Williams, 30, rubbishes suggestions her career could be drawing to a close following her defeat by Kim Clijsters.

"This is what you try to achieve. I never expected that I would come back in this position, but I'm glad I stuck through it and I live for these kinds of moments."
Defending champion Clijsters seems rather pleased with her decision to come out of retirement just over a year ago.

"They are the biggest favourites to get into the finals and I'm sure that the crowd wants them in the finals. But I will try to not make that happen."
As the tennis world hopes for a Federer-Nadal final, Novak Djokovic makes no attempt to disguise his intention to play the role of party pooper when he plays Federer in the semi-finals.

"Yeah, I'm ready to be the bad person. I love to be the bad person in this case."
Mikhail Youzhny, who plays Rafael Nadal in the semis, echoes Djokovic's theme.

"Another time, no, please? It's nothing decisive. It's part of the confidence, and I only changed the grip a little bit. That's all. Maybe tomorrow, or after tomorrow, I'm going to serve disastrously. For the moment it works well."
Rafael Nadal politely skirts round a question about what type of adjustment he has made to his newly-remodelled serve.
