Fish fired down 24 aces in his win over Rochus |
Mardy Fish fought back from a set down to beat Olivier Rochus and win the Hall of Fame Championships in Rhode Island. The 28-year-old American, who defeated Britain's Richard Bloomfield in the semi-finals, saw off the Belgian fourth seed 5-7 6-3 6-4. Fish's victory in the grasscourt event helped to make up for his loss to Sam Querrey in this year's Queen's final. The fifth seed, ranked 79 in the world going into the tournament, has now won four titles on the main ATP Tour. In Sunday's WTA Tour finals, rising French star Aravane Rezai overcame Gisela Dulko of Argentina 6-3 4-6 6-4 to win the claycourt Swedish Open in Bastad. Home favourite Agnes Szavay beat Switzerland's Patty Schnyder 6-2 6-4 to win the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest, also on clay, in a repeat of last year's final. "It's unbelievable to win in Hungary again," Szavay said. "The crowd was great, just like last year. To win two times at home, I can't describe this feeling."
