Liverpool's Ken Skupski hopes to help Great Britain avoid relegation from the Davis Cup Europe/Africa Zone Group II when they meet Turkey at the weekend.

Skupski and Colin Fleming are set to play the doubles rubber in Eastbourne.

"We've got a chance to represent our country for the second time together so that's going to be really exciting," Skupski told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"Hopefully we can get the win for the team which will be fantastic to help us avoid relegation."

Great Britain have suffered five straight defeats in the Davis Cup as they have fallen from the World Group to Europe/Africa Zone Group II.

Their last tie saw them lose 3-2 to Lithuania in March, with Skupski and Fleming winning their doubles encounter in four sets.

After the the Davis Cup, both players then turn their attentions to the hard-court season in the United States, but Skupski says they can look back at their performances on grass with a sense of pride.

"I've looked back at the whole grass-court season, not just Wimbledon, and I've looked back at the last four weeks and and I'm very proud of what I've achieved," said Skupski.

"Colin and I have had a good month. It's another month gone without picking up massive points but we're going in the right direction and we've played well.

"Making the final of Eastbourne was a good week for us and the Wimbledon experience was always great. We had a tough draw but we'll look positively on it and hopefully it will stand us in good stead for the hard court season to come."

Skupski and Fleming reached the second round at Wimbledon before losing to world number two doubles pair Bob and Mike Bryan in three sets, 6-2 6-4 7-6.
