Dinara Safina's poor run continued as she crashed out of the Unicef Open at 's-Hertogenbosch in Holland.

The Russian second seed was beaten 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 6-4 in the first round by Slovakia's Magdalena Rybarikova.

Former world number one Safina is down to 20th in the rankings as she battles to find form after a back injury.

British wildcard Laura Robson also made an early exit, beaten 6-3 6-4 by another Slovakian Dominika Cibulkova, at the pre-Wimbledon grasscourt event.

Robson, 16, made it to the second round of the Aegon Classic in Birmingham - her first WTA Tour win - before losing 7-5 6-4 to third seed Yanina Wickamayer.

Justine Henin will make her first appearance on grass since Wimbledon 2007 at the Dutch tournament, opening against Angelique Kerber of Germany.

The 28-year-old Belgian, a seven-time Grand Slam winner, returned to competition earlier this year after retiring in May 2008.

She is chasing her first Wimbledon title, having reached the final in 2001 and 2006.
