1910: Time for me to bid you farewell and saunter into the London night. Roddick and Kunitsyn are out on Centre Court as we speak and you can watch that here on the
website or via the
BBC Red Button. Enjoy.
BBC Sport's Piers Newbery on Twitter: "A good workout against a really tough opponent. Roddick next on court but I'm off to celebrate
"
Nice to see Murraymania alive and kicking in the Newbery household. From The Nameless One on 606: "Hard to say after one match, thought he'd notch up a more comfortable scoreline than that against Navarro, he loves the serve and volley matchup. But credit to Navarro as well for playing a fine match, and Murray was starting to look better and better as the match went on. Will he defend his title? I don't know, might have been better for him to be in the other half. He'll reach the semis then it's 50/50 against Nadal."
1858: "It was a tough first match on grass,"
Murray told BBC Sport. "He served very well and I didn't return particularly well. It isn't what I expected from a Spaniard, having a player come forward to the net. I haven't played a serve-volleyer this year so it was tricky but I started returning it well and we had some good rallies and I made some good lobs and passing shots. I thought I moved pretty well and I hit the ball well."
1855: So Andy Murray begins his defence of the Aegon Championships title at Queen's with a solid straight sets victory over Spain's Ivan Navarro. The Scot appeared to be feeling his long-term knee problem in the first set but roared through the second to set up a third-round meeting with either American Mardy Fish or Santiago Giraldo of Colombia.
Murray 7-6 (10-8) 6-3 Navarro Job well done. Murray looks like he's just getting out of first gear, Navarro appears spent. The Scot races to 15-40 and has
two match points. Although his Spanish opponent saves the first with a routine smash, on the second Murray comes up with a laser-guided forehand winner down the line.
Game, set and match Murray.
* denotes next to serve Murray 7-6 (10-8) 5-3 *Navarro A gritty hold puts Murray within a game of the match. The British number one gives Navarro the run-around and he's panting Chiwawa. Murray comes through to 30 with a fine winner - it's called long but the umpire overrules.
* denotes next to serve From CheeryCreps on 606: "One huge positive from this match is that Murray serve. It has been very solid and his 1st serve % is up a fair bit from the last few months. He is doing well for his first competitive match on grass in almost s year against an opponent who is playing well. This match will help him for the rest of Queen's."
Murray* 7-6 (10-8) 4-3 Navarro Navarro twice finds the net to give Murray 15-30 and although he recovers, the Spaniard is passed at the net as Murray takes us to deuce. A slam-the-door-shut volley gives the third seed game point. He doesn't take it but makes no mistake at the second time of asking. Very few freebies for Murray today, a real good workout.
* denotes next to serve stu_fraser on Twitter: "Does @GSFarmer know its not the X Factor that we r watchin? Uneasy on eyes? Personally I prefer 2 concentrate on the tennis!"
Murray 7-6 (10-8) 4-2 *Navarro Murray races to 40-0 but seems to suffer a concentration lapse, drops two points and shouts at himself to wake up. It does the trick as he seals the game with a double-handed backhand winner up the line. "Come on!" yells the Scot.
* denotes next to serve From Sue in Ealing via text: "Strangely reassuring to have Kim Sears back courtside! Come on Andy!"
Murray* 7-6 (10-8) 3-2 Navarro More dashes to the net from Navarro - some good, some bad. The most important, at 30-30, sees the Spaniard push a forehand volley into the tramlines to hand Murray a
break point. But Murray can't capitalise and once again his movement appears a little impaired. Watch that knee, Andy, Wimbledon's just around the corner! Navarro squanders three chances to serve out the game, twice as a result of brilliant Murray lobs. On his fourth opportunity, Murray nets a crosscourt backhand.
* denotes next to serve Murray 7-6 (10-8) 3-1 *Navarro Navarro is battling away but Murray has his number. The Spaniard nets before Murray sends a lob long. The Scot gets to 40-15 but a couple of loose groundstrokes let Navarro back in. However, when Navarro goes long and then nets Murray is able to maintain his advantage. "Murray looks like a man who knows his serve will not be beaten today," says Greg Rusedski on the
BBC Red Button.
* denotes next to serve Murray* 7-6 (10-8) 2-1 Navarro Hints that a double-break could be on the cards as Murray gets to 30-30. But all credit to Navarro for holding firm. He holds with a gorgeous drop shot at the net. It stops dead, giving Murray no chance. Great hands, son.
* denotes next to serve From Oli R in Oxford via text: "Murray looks likes he's worked out his first serve finally! But that hair cut
makes his head look huge! Come on Andy!"
Murray 7-6 (10-8) 2-0 *Navarro Murray's lost only two points on his first serve so far and he reels off another hold to 15. If he keeps this up, we could be over and done with before long.
* denotes next to serve Murray* 7-6 (10-8) 1-0 Navarro Now the British number one is stirring. He comes out for the first game of the second set looking remarkably relaxed and
breaks to love. Blimey, didn't see that coming.
* denotes next to serve Murray 7-6 (10-8) *Navarro Murray is far from happy with himself after putting an early forehand into the net. But his response is emphatic. A controlled pass up the line, a perfectly constructed point that ends with a volleyed winner and an ace. At 4-1 down, Navarro drills down an unreturnable serve which breaks a string on Murray's racquet and the world number four then half-volleys well long with his opponent at the net. When Navarro rushes in again Murray can only net, but the man from Alicante follows up with a wild forehand. A booming serve and an easy smash give Navarro 6-5 and
set point. Murray saves with a brilliant crosscourt forehand pass and goes 7-6 up with a delicious volleyed backhand lob. A
set point for the third seed but out comes the thunderous booming Navarro serve once more and Murray then puts a forehand into the net. A second Navarro
set point is saved when the Spaniard slips and is passed before Murray gets his second
set point with a smash. This time he makes no mistake, saving the best 'til last with a crosscourt backhand winner. What a way to finish a 45-minute first set.
* denotes next to serve Murray* 6-6 Navarro One poor pick-up aside, Navarro serve-volleys his way to a
tie-break with aplomb.
* denotes next to serve GSFarmer on Twitter: "Why does Andy Murray have such an appalling attitude on court? He always looks so disconsolate and moody. Uneasy on eyes."
Murray 6-5 *Navarro More knee flexes from Murray but he seems OK and holds easily. The Scot seems to have coped with the transition from clay to grass pretty well, his movement and ball-striking looks good. He has had a week on the grass after losing to Berdych in round four of the French, mind.
* denotes next to serve Murray* 5-5 Navarro Impressive start to the game for Murray as he flicks over an inch-perfect lob that Navarro reaches but whips long. Undeterred, the 28-year-old right-hander continues to rush in to the net and he's rewarded with a smash, another neat put-away and a Murray unforced error.
* denotes next to serve Kim Clijsters on Twitter: "Just finished hitting on grass!! I love it :-) weather is great here! Now going to find a supermarket and buy some groceries!"
Welcome to England, Kim Murray 5-4 *Navarro Anxious glances among the crowd as Murray slips to 0-30 and begins muttering to himself. Fear not. Navarro frames a second serve wide, Murray skids and ace through and the Spaniard then puts two returns into the net.
* denotes next to serve Murray* 4-4 Navarro Britain's finest looks to up the ante with a glorious top-spin lob that leaves Navarro helpless at the net. But the 28-year-old from sunny Alicante holds serve in sunny Barons Court with another thumping ace.
* denotes next to serve From Ben in Canterbury via text: "I've got a GCSE history exam tomorrow but you know what the two Andys take priority - come on Muzza and A-Rod!"
Roddick follows Murray on Centre Court Murray 4-3 *Navarro Excellent to see Murray notching a high first serve percentage. We've seen a few deft touches around the net but serve is most certainly dominating so far. Murray's support team - including mum Judy and girlfriend Kim Sears (yes, they're back on) - look pretty content.
* denotes next to serve Murray* 3-3 Navarro This is shaping up to be a tougher opening test for Murray than many would have expected. The man from Dunblane struggles to get close to his Spanish opponent's serve and that's another comfortable hold. Nice from the world number 108.
* denotes next to serve Murray 3-2 *Navarro A lightning hold to 15 for Murray. Emphatic.
* denotes next to serve Murray* 2-2 Navarro Greg Rusedski on the
BBC Red Button is full of praise for Navarro's effective - if unorthodox - service action. He holds with an ace and they're storming through games here. Worryingly, Murray flexes his strapped right knee. The 23-year-old has a
bipartite patella and it has caused him problems since the age of 16.
* denotes next to serve Murray 2-1 *Navarro Quicker than I can write, Murray holds to love and his fans on a sun-drenched Centre Court are delighted with their man's start.
* denotes next to serve Murray* 1-1 Navarro "It's lovely to see a return to classic serve-volley tactics," says Rusedski on the
BBC Red Button as Navarro levels things up with a aggressive opening service game. For those of you asking about the players' attire, Navarro is sporting a blue cap and shirt - an identical shade to the Centre Court seats and advertising boards. Camouflage tactics from the wily Spaniard. Murray, resplendent in Wimbledon whites, of course. Clean shaven with a short back and sides, I might add.
* denotes next to serve Murray 1-0 *Navarro Murray opens with a solid hold to 15, wrapped up with an ace down the 'T'. He even throws in a cute little drop shot winner. These two have met once previously, on the Madrid hard courts in 2006. Murray won 6-2 6-4.
* denotes next to serve 1723: Here we go, Murray to serve.

606. 1715: When was the last time a British player came into Queen's as reigning champion? Well, 1914 to be precise but you get what I'm saying. It's been bloomin' ages! Third seed Murray kicks off his title defence against Spain's Ivan Navarro, ranked 108 in the world.
1712: But Rafa can wait - today's all about Andy Murray.
1710: Less than an hour after stepping off Court Philippe Chatrier with the
French Open trophy tucked under his arm, Rafa Nadal rang Queen's to confirm his place in the Aegon Championships. He even requested a spot in the doubles. So it's not just me who's bubbling with excitement for the grass-court season?
