Keothavong was beaten by France's Alize Cornet in Morocco

British number three Anne Keothavong failed to qualify for the main draw at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia after losing 6-3 6-0 to Croat Karolina Sprem.

Sprem, aged 25 and ranked 108 in the world, dominated throughout as she won the first eight games of the contest.

It was the Londoner's fifth match of the week.

On Thursday she exited at the third round in Morocco before beating Italy's Alice Moroni 6-3 6-1 in her first qualifying match in Rome on Friday.
