Robson and Peers only teamed on the eve of the tournament |
Laura Robson saw her Australian Open doubles hopes end as she and Sally Peers lost in the last eight to Maria Kirilenko and Agnieszka Radwanska. The 16-year-old Briton, who earlier in the day reached the quarter-finals of the junior singles, joined Australian Peers to tackle the 15th seeds. But the duo, with a combined age of just 34, were beaten 6-4 6-1. In the juniors, Robson beat Cristina Dinu of Romania 6-3 6-3 in 67 minutes and next faces unseeded Ester Goldfeld. "Today's match was really good, she played very aggressively so I just tried to get as many balls back," said Robson after her singles victory. "I felt slightly tired but I got through it. I'm trying to think one match at a time rather then winning the tournament. Fellow Briton Oliver Golding lost 7-6 (8-6) 7-5 to Australian wildcard James Duckworth in the third round of the boys' singles.
