Andy Murray is now a legitimate contender to win this tournament.
Once he got through his early nerves against Juan Carlos Ferrero, as well as the heat and a bit of fatigue, he just slipped into top gear. His performance for the last set and a half was A+.
I'm not sure Ferrero believed he had a shot at this. As soon as Murray got into the match it was like someone put a pin in the Spaniard's balloon.
Ferrero did show some character at the end of the first set, but he was even doubting himself when he was leading. Murray sensed that and it felt like it was a game that if it had gone to four sets it would have been 6-0.

He had to work on his fitness and he's obviously done that. He believes in himself so much more. He learned a lot against Rafael Nadal in the semis in the US Open last September.
It was the first time I had ever seen Nadal giving up points. Mentally, he got inside the head of Nadal which is hard to do. And then in the final, Roger Federer was able to take advantage of his own experience against Andy.
Then Andy learned from that. Every step of the way he has learned new things. This might be only his fourth Wimbledon, but you sense he has learned so many great lessons from the losses.
You learn so much more in the games you lose and realise what changes you need to make to your game.
The outcome against Ferrero was never really in doubt and Murray did his own thing for the three sets.
He now gets to save himself and has a couple of days off but at the end he was looking rather awesome. You couldn't have asked for anything more from him.
It's certainly pointing towards a final between Andy and Roger. My pick is Roger to win but that would be some match if we see it. Could I still see Andy doing it? Absolutely.

It was such a complete performance from Andy. He was fantastic in all areas. The way he started taking apart Ferrero's serve was so impressive.
It's going to be very difficult for anyone to beat him and I do fancy his chances going forward.
He came out in hot conditions and struggled a little, but he made the necessary adjustments and the ball was soon flying through the air.
It took him a while to find his range but in the end it was such a good show.

He really improved his consistency. His serving was back on-song and he was getting more and more aggressive. He won 88% of his first serves and when he returns like he did against Ferrero, he is so hard to play against.
After his long five-setter match against Stanislas Wawrinka on Monday, he's done well to come back so emphatically and play the three sets the way he did.
All the work Andy has done on his strength and conditioning is really paying off. Playing five sets is no big deal for him. I'm sure he will be going into Friday's semi-final feeling 100%.
