Borwell is now concentrating on her doubles career

Middlesbrough doubles player Sarah Borwell is hoping to qualify for the London Olympics in 2012.

The 29-year-old was beaten in the first round of the women's doubles with Anne Keothavong, by Australian third seeds Samantha Stosur and Rennae Stubbs.

And she told BBC Sport: "Right now I'm 85 [in the world rankings] having only started in doubles 11 months ago but I need to be in the top 60 to qualify.

"It would be incredible, I would be 32. It's a great motivator for me."

Borwell added she was disappointed to go out of the doubles at the first stage on Wednesday but she would like to partner Keothavong again.

"I think we play well together, we did well together in the Fed Cup when the team finished third.

I've beaten some top players this year and I feel I belong here

"Anne's obviously got her singles to concentrate on but at least when we play together I know we do quite well.

"I'm gutted [to be knocked out] and I'm a bit disappointed with the draw but it's a Grand Slam and you're going to play some good players.

"But I've beaten some top players this year and I feel I belong here."

And Borwell added that she hopes she can help promote the sport in her home town.

"I love Middlesbrough and I am trying to improve its image.

"To have 11 people from Tennis World having played for their country at junior level is pretty special for one of the country's poorer towns."
