British number one Anne Keothavong could not build on her opening win of the clay-court season as she lost to Lourdes Dominguez Lino in Morocco.

Spaniard Dominguez Lino saved two match points before coming through 4-6 7-5 6-3 in round two of the Grand Prix S.A.R La Princesse Lalla Meryem.

Keothavong had match points on serve at 5-4, 40-15, in the second set.

"It was a tough match to lose today, especially as I had match points," Keothavong told her website.

"She played well and was pretty resilient throughout but there are a lot of positives I can still take from this match.

"I got myself into a winning position by being solid and patient and she actually came up with some very good backhands when match point down.

"Considering it was my first clay-court tournament for a while, I'm still pleased with how I've played overall and I can go to Rome feeling a little more comfortable on this surface."

Keothavong had battled past Estonia's Maret Ani in the first round on Monday. It had been her first singles victory since reaching the Memphis semi-finals in February.

Later on Wednesday, Keothavong and Hungarian partner Melinda Czink lost 6-1 5-7 10-7 to Sorana Cirstea and Maria Kirilenko in the quarter-finals of the doubles.
