Huber and Murray bettered their French Open quarter-final showing

Britain's Jamie Murray failed to reach a second successive Wimbledon mixed doubles final when he and Liezel Huber lost to Bob Bryan and Samantha Stosur.

Murray, the defending champion, was in fine form as he and Huber broke twice to claim the first set in 21 minutes.

But Bryan and Stosur took the second on a tie-break and broke at 4-4 in the third to prevail 2-6 7-6 (6-7) 6-4.

The unseeded pair play Mike Bryan, Bob's identical twin, and Katarina Srebotnik for the title on Sunday.

Top seeds Mike Bryan and Srebotnik ousted Russians Igor Andreev and Maria Kirilenko 6-4 6-2.

They broke early in the second and, despite being pegged back when serving for the set at 5-4, stormed through the tie-break.

Murray and Huber, who were knocked out of the French Open at the first hurdle, wasted six break points in the decider before Bryan and Stosur took the second of their two at to take a 5-4 lead.

Despite a late push from the 12th seeds, Bryan served out the match with an ace.

Murray, who won the 2007 title with Jelena Jankovic, said he and Huber deserved to win.

"We played our best match of the tournament. I felt we were the better team but sadly we couldn't get through," he said.

"They played tough on the big points."

The Scot added he would continue his partnership with Huber, the number one ranked doubles player in the women's game.

"We're probably one of the better teams playing in the mixed," said Murray.

"We enjoy playing together. I'm sure we'll play the US Open together and I don't see why (we wouldn't play Wimbledon next year too)."
