Skupski was given a wild card for the mens doubles at SW19 |
Liverpool's Ken Skupski has said he is hoping he can break into the world's top-50 within the next two years. The 25-year-old is currently ranked 527 and has just played at Wimbledon for the first time as a senior. He lost his first round doubles match but told BBC Radio Merseyside that he can only benefit from the experience. "I could find myself in the top-50, hopefully in two years time, I definitely have confidence to compete with these guys on a day-to-day basis." Skupski and doubles partner Richard Bloomfield were beaten in four sets by thirteenth seeds Frantisek Cermak of the Czech Republic and Jordan Kerr of Australia at the All England Club. Skupski though sees his future as a singles player and he said he is aware of just how difficult it will be to reach his goal of becoming one of the best 50 players in the world. "I've still got things to improve on, I can always get better but if I can keep putting the time in on the practice court I can definitely make it to the top." Skupski will now play in a challenger event in Dublin next week.
