Baker gave Karlovic a scare at the Australian Open (Getty Images) |
Nottingham-based Jamie Baker says his next aim is to break into the world's top 100 following an impressive Grand Slam debut at the Australian Open. The 21-year-old Scot lost his first- round match against world number 24 Ivo Karlovic in four sets.
But Baker, currently ranked 217 in the world, took great heart from his battling performance.
"The last four matches and the level I've played have been well worthy of someone inside the top 100," he said.

"It's a question of me taking it on to these slightly smaller tournaments that I'm going to be playing to get my ranking up and it's definitely going to be a question of consistency.
"It's a great tournament, and my first time qualifying for a Grand Slam, so I can take lots away from it.
"I'm disappointed not to win but I'm sure I'll be back for more."
