Roger Federer's progress to the French Open second round was halted by heavy rain as the weather decimated the schedule for the second day running. The top seed was 6-4 4-1 ahead against Michael Russell when the rain came for the third time on Monday and brought an early end to play.
Only one men's match was completed, fourth seed Nikolay Davydenko thrashing Stefano Galvani 6-3 6-1 6-1.
The forecast for Tuesday is slightly better, but showers are expected.
Play was due to get under way at 1000 BST on Monday but the start time coincided with the first of the day's showers, leaving Davydenko a relieved man.
The world number four revealed he was late arriving at Roland Garros after getting stuck in traffic.
"I was nervous about being disqualified," he said.
"I was thinking, I don't have time to take a shower, I don't have time to change my clothes... it was pretty tough."
Seventh seed Ivan Ljubicic, aiming to win a match at a Grand Slam for the first time since reaching the third round at Wimbledon last year, was leading 6-1 4-4 against France's Arnaud Clement when play was called off for the day.
