Mauresmo has slipped to fourth in the world rankings

"The operation went well and all that's left for me is to wait patiently," the Wimbledon champion, who went under the knife on Sunday, told her website.

"The surgeon advised me to walk a bit but not to do anything else. I will doubtless need a good month to get all my physical capacities back."

Mauresmo has not played since losing to Justine Henin in Dubai on 24 February.
